Project EPCS-TE was presented during the meeting of the Advisory Group on Education of the Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe’s Anti-Doping Convention (T-DO ED) that was held on 29/9 and 1/10, in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Dr. Umutcan Kayıkçı, a researcher from the UNESCO Chair of Anti-Doping at Paris Nanterre University, France, who conducted a mapping exercise and evaluation of anti-doping education in undergraduate sport programmes across Europe, discussed project EPCS-TE and its importance on improving synergies between academic institutions and national anti-doping organisations. Dr. Michael Petrou, Coordinator of the EPCS-TE project, presented the aims and objectives of the project, including proposed updates to the recommendation from the Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe’s Anti-Doping Convention to its State Parties calling for action on this issue. In response, the T-DO ED discussed the possibility of creating a working group to deal with anti-doping education in tertiary education.

The T-DO ED meeting, hosted by the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sport, took place at the Istanbul Ataköy International Youth Center. The event brought together more than 50 education and anti-doping specialists from 42 State parties to the Convention including from the countries involved in Project EPCS-TE, Observers from Kazakhstan, Qatar, USA, as well as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).  Educational Institutions and international sport federations also participated.
