EPCS-TE Presented at the XI International Conference on Novel Psychoactive Substances

Our project was presented by Dr Thomas Zandonai, University of Trento (Italy), and Professor Lambros Lazuras, University of Lincoln (United Kingdom) at the XI International Conference on Novel Psychoactive Substances. The conference took place between 3 – 5 November 2025 in Nice, France and was jointly organised by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Society for the Study of Emerging Drugs (ISSED), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the European Union Drug Agency, the University of Trento, and the University of Hertfordshire. The Conference was attended by over 250 participants from more than 40 countries, and is considered as one of the leading global events for scientific exchange and policy dialogue on emerging substances and anti-doping issues.

Special issue about the role of Universities in promoting clean sport education

Our consortium proudly announces the launch of the Special Issue “Current Advances in Clean Sport Education in University Settings” in the Open Access Elsevier journal Emerging Trends in Drugs, Addictions, and Health. The Special Issue is one of the deliverables of project EPCS-TE and will focus on the role of universities as providers and multipliers of clean sport education in student communities and beyond. Invited contributions include a diverse range of manuscripts, from empirical studies and systematic reviews to conceptual and theoretical frameworks and case studies.

EPCS-TE presented at Council of Europe anti-doping education meeting

Project EPCS-TE was featured at the meeting of the Council of Europe’s Anti-Doping Convention Advisory Group on Education (T-DO ED), held on 29 September and 1 October 2025 in Istanbul, Türkiye. Dr. Umutcan Kayıkçı, researcher at the UNESCO Chair of Anti-Doping at Paris Nanterre University, presented findings from his mapping of anti-doping education in European undergraduate sport programmes, and highlighted our project’s role in strengthening collaboration between universities and NADOs. Dr. Michael Petrou, EPCS-TE coordinator, also outlined how the project may contribute to proposing updates to the Recommendation on Anti-Doping Education Guidelines for Tertiary Education Institutions of the Council of Europe’s Monitoring Group of the Anti-Doping Convention.

EPCS-TE Presented at ADoP’s Advisory Council Meeting

The Anti-Doping Authority of Portugal (ADoP) presented project EPCS-TE during a meeting of its Advisory Council at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Lisbon (Campus XXI) on 13 November 2025. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Secretary of State for Sport Dr. Pedro Dias and representatives from major national institutions: Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), Paralympic Committee, Sports Confederation, National Authority for Medicament and Health Products (INFARMED), Order of Nurses, Order of Doctors, Addictive Behaviors and Addictions Institute (ICAD), Athletes’ Commission of the National Olympic Committee, Economic and Food Safety Authority (ASAE), and the Lisbon Anti-Doping Laboratory.
