The University of Trento (UNI TRENTO) is an Italian university located in Trento and nearby Rovereto.
The Addiction Science Lab (ASL) at the University of Trento is based within the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science, which promotes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the mind, brain, and behavior. By integrating knowledge from psychology, neuroscience, pedagogy, philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, and cognitive technologies, ASL develops innovative perspectives to understand and address emerging forms of addiction.
ASL works at an international level, coordinating research projects and prevention campaigns on substance use in sport and on risky practices linked to body image and performance enhancement. Through collaborations with universities, healthcare institutions, governmental bodies, and scientific societies worldwide, it contributes to raising public awareness of the dangers associated with doping and the uncontrolled use of substances, often purchased online without medical supervision.
Beyond research, ASL is actively engaged in science communication and training for students, health professionals, and local communities, with the goal of translating scientific evidence into concrete prevention strategies and wellbeing promotion. This combination of advanced research, educational engagement, and international cooperation makes ASL a leading hub for the study and prevention of addictions on a global scale.
